The new BMW M135i

The BMW M135i is the top-of-the-range version of the BMW 1 Series. This distinctively dynamic vehicle is an integral part of the new product category BMW M Performance Automobile produced by the BMW M GmbH. It is positioned between the most powerful BMW series production models and thoroughbred BMW M vehicles. BMW M Performance power units generally boast a noticeably higher performance than the previously most powerful engines of any BMW series and have M-specific characteristics in terms of suspension setting and visual appearance, though without any limitations in terms of suitability for everyday use.

Heart of the new BMW M135i is the straight six-cylinder petrol engine with Twin Scroll Turbo technology, Valvetronic, Double VANOS and High Precision Injection. It delivers 320 hp and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, power transfer being effected by the six-speed manual transmission fitted as standard. As a result, the most powerful BMW 1 Series offers dynamic performance worthy of a sports car. The vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.9 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). In spite of these figures, the BMW M135i has an average fuel consumption of just 7.5 l/100 km as per the EU test cycle, and a CO2 emission level of around 175 g/km.

For the first time in the history of the BMW 1 Series, the intelligent four-wheel drive system BMW xDrive will be available as an option. The models BMW 120d xDrive and BMW M135i xDrive are due out shortly.
