Road Test: 2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI quattro

The Audi A5 model series offers three body types. The Coupe looks fantastic, Sportback is more useful with its rear doors, and this Cabriolet is perfect for sunny weather. Audi updated the whole A5 model series for 2012 and added a few design details to its exterior. At the front the most noticeable changes are the new headlights which now have a wedge shape. LED daytime running lights provide a distinctive look with the optional xenon plus headlights. Also the front grille and the front bumper have been redesigned. At the rear the lights and the bumper got a little facelift. The rear lights are optionally available with continuous LED light strips.

Road Test: 2012 Audi Q5 hybrid quattro

Audi Q5 hybrid quattro is the first hybrid model from Audi. In 1997 Audi built a limited edition of Audi Duo hybrid cars. The Audi Duo was based on the Audi A4 Avant. However, the car was ahead of its time and didn’t create much interestest. Thing have changed a lot among car buyers since then so the new Q5 hybrid quattro will probably have much better success on the market. From the outside, the Q5 hybrid quattro can be recognized by its fully painted bumpers, new 19-inch wheels and small hybrid emblems in the tailgate. Inside, a special instruments display replaces the tachometer. Otherwise, it looks much the same as the basic Q5. The all-white Q5 looks nice, but much more interesting is the technology that it contains.

Road Test: 2012 Audi A6 allroad 3.0 TDI quattro S tronic

Audi A6 allroad 3.0 TDI quattro S tronic. This long model name reveals that the latest A6 allroad comes as fully packed. Actually, to make the list perfect, it could be continued with the air suspension. Now in its third generation, the new Audi A6 allroad is 4.94 meters (16.21 ft) long, 1.90 meters (6.23 ft) wide and 1.47 meters (4.82 ft) tall. So it is just marginally bigger than the A6 Avant. The special features in the exterior are the single-frame grille with vertical slats, more widely flared fenders, front and rear underbody covers made of stainless steel, two flattened exhaust tailpipes and the roof rails mounted on double bars. The wheel well edges, the bumpers and the sills are painted in a contrasting colour. Audi offers LED technology as an option for the headlights and tail lights and the xenon plus headlights can be combined with adaptive light feature.

Audi 80 (B1) (1972-1978)

Audi 80 (B1) (1972-1978)

The first-generation Audi 80 entered production in July 1972. It represented a revolution for the company and featured many new solutions, which were soon adapted to the other models. This new midsize car, which was known in-house as B1, widened the model range below the Audi 100. Audi 80’s harmonious and functional design was the brainchild of a young Hartmut Warkuß. His concept won through against a number of radically wedge-like designs, all of which were rejected by Ludwig Kraus, the Board Member for Technical Development. Ludwig Kraus had demanded strict adherence to lightweight design and the basic model with two doors weighted just 835 kilograms (1,840.86 lb). The first Audi 80 had very compact dimensions. The wheelbase was 2.47 meters (8.10 ft) and the total length of the car was 4.18 meters (13.71 ft).

Road Test: 2012 Audi A5 Sportback 1.8 TFSI

The Audi A5 model series has been refreshed for the 2012 model year. The biggest exterior changes can be seen in its front end design. The new front bumper features new air inlets with massive struts, revamped grilles and flat fog lights. The engine hood has been reshaped with sharply chiseled edges. The target was to make the front end look even flatter and wider, a job in which Audi has succeeded quite well. Especially the newly designed headlights make the front of the car look more poised. It looks like the Audi A5 is always ready to go. The lower edge of the headlight forms a wave. With the optional xenon plus headlights, the LED daytime running lights form a narrow frame for the Xenon-headlight. The adaptive light system with dynamic cornering light and turning light is also available. Also the rear bumber and the rear lights of the Audi A5 have been redesigned.

Road Test: 2011 Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 V6 TDI

If you thought that there were already enough four-door variants in the Audi range, you were wrong. Now there is yet another one. The newest model is the A7 Sportback. It looks a bit like a coupe, but has four doors and a decent backseat. The new A7 is a big car. With measures of 4969mm long and 1911mm wide, it is bigger than A5 and even A6. If measured with side mirrors, it is even wider than the Audi A8. The height is only 1420mm and with the coupe-styled roofline, the A7 looks kind of sportier version of a big four-door Audi. In the backseat there is enough legroom, but because of the roofline, headroom is the problem. An adult can travel in the back, but as the ceiling starts to get close, it is not that comfortable. The tailgate is huge, as the whole rear window opens up. Luggage compartment offers 535 litres of luggage space.
