Upgraded TMG EV P002 returns to Pikes Peak to defend its electric title

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has sent a revised TMG EV P002 all-electric race car to Pikes Peak International Hill Climb to defend its title. Based on data gained from last year’s record-breaking run of 10 minutes 15.380 seconds, engineers at TMG’s electric vehicle technology centre have generated more performance from the TMG powertrain to further improve that mark. Motor speed and torque have been increased while the powertrain’s operating parameters have been tuned to better suit the challenge of the unique 19,99 kilometer Pikes Peak track, based on experience gained during last year’s class victory.

TMG GT86 Cup calender confirmed

TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) confirmed the schedule for the very first TMG GT86 Cup, which will run as part of the Nürburgring-based VLN championship this year. The TMG GT86 Cup is exclusively for GT86 CS-V3 entrants. VLN races regularly attract over 200 entrants and the TMG GT86 Cup will run as a category within the existing championship structure, benefiting from a well-established organisation. Together with its partner IKmedia, TMG will provide an on-site spare parts service, with special conditions for participants, as well as a dedicated TMG GT86 Cup organisation service at the Nürburgring.

Gazoo Racing Team will enter three cars in the 2013 Nurburgring 24h race

Toyota announced that its Gazoo Racing team will enter the Lexus LFA and Toyota 86 in the 41st 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race to be held in Germany from May 17 through 20 local time. This will be TMC’s seventh entry in the race since 2007. The GAZOO Racing team competes in the race to aid Toyota Motor Corporation’s vehicle development and, as TMC employees serve as mechanics and drivers, to aid the development of human resources as well.

TMG unveils GT86 CS-V3 race car

Toyota GT86 is now available for racing after Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) launched the cost-effective TMG GT86 CS-V3 for private participants. Following a successful development period, during which it won its class in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the TMG GT86 CS-V3 has been refined and packaged as an entry-level race car for easy maintenance, low running costs and great fun. The exciting rear-wheel-drive, 200hp car has been developed specifically for the V3 class of the Nürburgring-based VLN series and homologation from the Deutsche Motor Sport Bund provides a licence to thrill in this and many other production-based championships.

Toyota Racing’s TS030 Hybrids ready for Le Mans

Toyota Racing’s TS030 Hybrid cars achieved another milestone by successfully participating in the traditional test day to prepare for the Le Mans 24 Hours on 16-17 June. For the first time, Toyota Racing had two cars in action, having completed all testing so far with only the #7 car. Both TS030 Hybrids, displaying their new Toyota hybrid-blue livery, were in action immediately when the lights went green at 9am, beginning another new chapter for the team with its first multi-car test. The complete driver line-up for car #7 of Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima took part in the test while the #8 featured Anthony Davidson and Sébastien Buemi. Stéphane Sarrazin will return to driving duties for Toyota Racing for the Le Mans race week.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) and TRD (Toyota Racing Development) introduced the new 2013 Toyota Camry that will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning next season. The introduction of the new 2013 Camry for NASCAR competition marked the culmination of an aggressive redesign to provide the 2013 Camry with an updated and more-unique identity. TRD worked together with Calty Design, part of Toyota’s global network design team, to create an on-track Camry that incorporates design elements which give America’s best-selling car its distinct character. A new front grill-area that matches the production model, distinct character lines down the side of the vehicle and an updated rear bumper make the redesigned 2013 Camry stock car more relevant than ever before to its showroom sibling.

Four Toyota GT86s will start for the 24h Nurburgring race

The 40th edition of the ADAC 24 Hours Nürburgring race this year will be the sixth time for Japan-based GAZOO Racing Team at the world-famous German circuit. In addition to the GAZOO Racing Lexus LFA (car no. 83, SP8 class), the team also entered two race-prepared Toyota GT86 vehicles (car no. 165 and 166, SP3 class). Prior to taking on the 24-hour endurance race, GAZOO Racing Team kicked off its 2012 race season at the shorter VLN2 and VLN3 races in April this year, with the Lexus LFA claiming class victories and both Toyota GT86 vehicles showing promising progress. Toyota Swiss Racing Team will join GAZOO Racing at the legendary Eifel circuit with two GT86 vehicles race prepared by Toyota Motorsport GmbH based in Germany. Both entries by the Swiss team (car no. 200 and 201) will compete in the V3 competition class for production vehicle models during the 24-hour endurance race.
