2014 Volvo XC60 comes as standard with the Corner Traction Control

At first look the Volvo V40 and Volvo V40 Cross Country might look very much the same, but there are some major differences between these two cars. While the V40 has almost completely body-coloured exterior, the new Cross Country comes with contrasting front and rear bumpers and side sills. In the Cross Country, there is also a bit different looking honeycomb mesh grille at the front. Other exterior details include the black mirror housings and roof rails. Cross Country also comes as standard with the bigger wheel size. The exterior styling can be upgraded with side scuff plates or rear diffuser and skid plate. The big panoramic sunroof is also available as an option. A really useful option in the winter weather is the heated front windscreen.

Volvo increases production of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid

Volvo Car Corporation increasing the production of the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. After the initial batch of 1,000 model year 2013 cars, production will increase to 4,000-6,000 cars as of model year 2014. The assembly of the diesel plug-in hybrid has been successfully integrated on the same line as the company’s other models at the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg. This is a remarkable achievement considering that the sophisticated plug-in hybrid technology includes two complete drive trains and a powerful battery that provides a range of up to 50 kilometres on pure electric power.

Volvo XC60 offers new D3 diesel variant

For the 2013 model year, Volvo extends the XC60’s diesel engine range with a new entry-level model. The D3 comes with a 5-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo diesel. The engine has an output of 136 hp and maximum torque of 350 Nm. The D3 is available both with a manual and an automatic gearbox. All variants have start/stop. The combined fuel consumption is 5.7 l/100 km (149 g/km) with the manual gearbox and 6.8 l/100 km (178 g/km) with the automatic.

The new Volvo V40 Cross Country

Volvo widens the new V40 model range by unveiling the new Cross Country model. The driver rides 40mm higher in the V40 Cross Country than in the standard V40. This capable impression is enhanced by a number of unique Cross Country details, including bigger wheels, the front with dark, contrasting bumper, honeycomb mesh grille and upright DRL-lights, the sculpted, contrasting sills and the contrasting rear bumper with integrated skid plate. Inside, the Raw Copper exterior launch colour is echoed in the contrasting stitching. It can be emphasised even further by choosing the Copper Dawn centre stack inlay. The leather upholstery comes in five different versions, including the Espresso Brown accent colour. The two-piece, 40/60, rear seat backrest can be easily folded. The load compartment can be equipped with a practical hanging load net. A soft safety net is optional and a steel version is available as an accessory. The front passenger seat can be folded forward to create even more space. In addition to the two permanent hooks, the extra floor integrates hooks for bags. Between the upper and lower floors there is a concealed storage area.
