The engine that imbued the Brabham BMW BT52 with its legendary status was developed by BMW Motorsport GmbH under the guidance of its then Technical Director, Paul Rosche.

Designed by Ferrari’s new designer, Carlo Chiti, the Ferrari 156 F1 had a tubular spaceframe chassis that proved serviceable but could not match the designs of Lotus or BRM. Renault Sport F1 and Caterham F1 Team have confirmed the extension of their partnership in the FIA Formula One World Championship for a further three years. Honda announced its decision to participate in the FIA Formula One World Championship from the 2015 season under a joint project with McLaren. Honda will be in charge of the development, manufacture and supply of the power unit, including the engine and energy recovery system, while McLaren will be in charge of the development and manufacture of the chassis, as well as the management of the new team, McLaren Honda.
2013 will be the final season of competition for the normally aspirated V8 engines in the F1. Introduced across the board in 2006, the V8 engines will be retired after the 2013 season to make way for a new turbocharged V6 unit equipped with potent electrical recuperation systems and a greater emphasis on fuel economy. After nearly eight years of competition, the Renault RS27 is a highly optimised V8 unit. The focus in 2013 is to deliver optimal reliability and flexibility in engine management.

The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team today unveiled its 2013 Formula One car, the F1 W04. With the technical regulations remaining stable in 2013, ahead of major changes for 2014, the basic vehicle concept of the F1 W04 is a sophisticated evolution of last year’s car. Led by Engineering Director Aldo Costa, under the coordination of Technical Director Bob Bell, the project commenced with initial aerodynamic testing in early summer 2012.
Infiniti Red Bull Racing unveiled its 2013 car, the RB9. The 2013 car features a striking new livery that reflects the strengthened relationship between Red Bull Racing and Infiniti. Triple World Formula One Champion Sebastian Vettel and nine-time grand prix-winner Mark Webber continue as the team driver. Sebastian is beginning his fifth year with the team, while this will be Mark’s seventh straight season with Infiniti Red Bull Racing, the longest-established team- driver combination on the 2013 grid.
