Porsche have made the last minute adjustments to the Porsche 918 Spyder just before the car deliveries begin. As a result, the Porsche 918 Spyder is even faster. With the weight-optimised Weissach package fitted, the vehicle now accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds (-0.2 seconds), from zero to 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds (-0.5 seconds), and passes the 300 km/h mark after 19.9 seconds (-2.1 seconds).
The new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet deliver the same blend of dynamism, performance and efficiency offered by the 911 Turbo Coupe models unveiled a few months ago. The turbocharged 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine delivers 520 bhp (383 kW) in the open-top 911 Turbo and 560 bhp (412 kW) in the S model. The cars accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.5 and 3.2 seconds respectively, reaching a top speed of up to 318 km/h. And all this while achieving fuel consumption of 9.9 l/100 km (equivalent to 231 g/km CO2). When compared against the respective predecessor models, the new vehicles deliver 30 bhp more power and are 0.2 seconds faster in terms of their standard acceleration. They are also up to 15% more efficient.
The Porsche 918 Spyder has lapped the 20.6-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes. Achieving a time of exactly six minutes and 57 seconds, the super sportscar equipped with a hybrid drive shaved 14 seconds off the previous record. The record, which was previously held for four years, was even broken during the first attempt in the test drive on the morning of September 4. All three drivers – Former European Rally Champion Walter Röhrl, Porsche test driver Timo Kluck and Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb – were quicker than the existing record with each lap driving the two 918 Spyder models used, and posted lap times of less than seven minutes on numerous occasions.
Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt with a special anniversary model based on the 911 Carrera S. Like the original 911, the 911 50th Anniversary Edition is a coupé with a flat-six rear engine and rear wheel drive.
