Audi presented the latest generation 3.0 TDI engine

Audi presented the latest generation of its 3.0 TDI engine at the 35th International Vienna Motor Symposium. The new V6 diesel is more powerful, more efficient and cleaner than ever. Audi offers the exhaust turbocharged V6 in two versions producing 160 kW (218 hp) and 200 kW (272 hp). It features a 90‑degree cylinder bank angle and a displacement of 2,967 cc. Peak torque is as much as 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) depending on the model. Although the new 3.0 TDI is significantly more powerful than its predecessor, it is – again depending on the model – as much as 13 percent more fuel efficient.

Road Test: 2011 Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 V6 TDI

If you thought that there were already enough four-door variants in the Audi range, you were wrong. Now there is yet another one. The newest model is the A7 Sportback. It looks a bit like a coupe, but has four doors and a decent backseat. The new A7 is a big car. With measures of 4969mm long and 1911mm wide, it is bigger than A5 and even A6. If measured with side mirrors, it is even wider than the Audi A8. The height is only 1420mm and with the coupe-styled roofline, the A7 looks kind of sportier version of a big four-door Audi. In the backseat there is enough legroom, but because of the roofline, headroom is the problem. An adult can travel in the back, but as the ceiling starts to get close, it is not that comfortable. The tailgate is huge, as the whole rear window opens up. Luggage compartment offers 535 litres of luggage space.

Road Test: 2011 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 V6 TDI 4XMOTION

The 2011 Touareg looks all-new, but you can still easily recognise it as a Touareg. Compared to its predecessor, the second generation Touareg is wider, but the roof line is dropped closer to the ground for better aerodynamics. These changes make the new Touareg look sportier and same time a bit smaller, but actually the longer wheelbase and greater total length provide even more room inside the cabin. At the front there is now a narrower grille opening that connects to the headlight housings with U-shaped LED running lights and Bi-Xenon headlamps. At the rear the the taillights have new L-Design. The new front end design and smaller frontal area has significantly improved Cd value. Touareg has also dropped some weigth which results in better fuel economy. The new Touareg is 208 kilograms lighter in the base version than the previous model, still the body torsional rigidity has improved by five prosent.

Road Test: 2010 Audi Q7 3.0 V6 TDI Clean Diesel

It’s not just the size, eventhough with over five meters of length and over two meters of total width, the Q7 looks a bit oversized at least by european standards, but Q7 looks really good at the parking lot. The exterior is full of details that catch your eye. Big singleframe front grill, Xenon headlights surrounded by LED daytime driving lights, LED indicators in the front bumper and LED tail lights integrated to the tailgate. Twin exhaust tailpipes are lurking under the rear bumber and inside the extended wheel arches there are filled 19″ alloy wheels, which in this case, doesn’t look very big. Dark brown metallic colour is called Teak and it works great in this big car. Dark brown is a nice change instead of the more usual black or silver paint.
